A World Cup trophy to touch
The FIFA World Cup trophy is undertaking this summer a lap of honor through the entire German Republic.
As part of a road show the German Football Association with its 21 national associations created the opportunity for 63 amateur clubs in total to host the trophy for a day at their club premises.
The tour began on 26th May and ends after about three months at the DFB Museum in Dortmund, where the “FIFA Winners Trophy 2014” will get their permanent place to reside:
9,920 km – Meter for meter thanks – a road show packed with thrill on 8.75 t – 63 Stops – 4 stars – one trophy.
On the 07.08.2015 was stop number 54 at the TSV 1878 in Schlieben/ Brandenburg.
The original World Cup trophy could be viewed, but of course not to be touched. The TSV Schlieben had the idea to carve the cup on the day of the event by SIK-Holz® in order to have an appropriately dignified memory of that day. The design craftsmanship took over our prospective Master of woodcarving Bastian Tabert. Visitors to the festival were amazed when the Cup of lime wood took more and more shape at 38 ° C. During the handing over ceremony to the Association, moderated the RBB journalist Ulrike Fink, our wooden trophy looked confusingly similar compared to the original – but ours could be touched!
Herewith we would like to express thank you to the TSV 1878 Schlieben for this well-organised and very committed event. We gladly participated.
Oh what craftsmanship can be capable of!
