Robinia wood
Our playground equipment is made exclusively from the wood of the local robinia tree. We use oak only for large sculptures. Robinia Wood is the hardest European timber; it may be submerged into the ground without chemical wood preservation, as it belongs to resistance class 1–2 according to DIN EN 350-2. Hence it can be used outdoors without treatments and is thus a sensible alternative to durable tropical wood types. Robinia wood has a striking core colour which stands out sharply from the noticeably narrow yellowish-white sapwood. The heartwood has a high natural resistance to wood pests like fungi and insects. The sapwood is the non-resistant part of the wood and is completely removed for the construction of playground equipment. Robinia wood is superior to all other types of wood in terms of stability and durability – even when of poorer quality, it endures in the ground for a minimum of 20 years. Colour
Colours can have either positive or negative impacts on our sense perception. Certain colour combinations direct the eye and can thus draw attention to a situation or a place. The use of colour can enhance the impact or composition of a playground design. We also know that, according to children’s age groups, preferences may change for more complex colours and colour combinations. Our designers thus have the opportunity to use colour to set multiple accents in a playground design and thereby stimulate visitors to play and enjoy the varied parts of the playground. We use environmentally friendly transparent and opaque wood varnishes and paints. These are resistant to sweat and saliva in accordance with DIN 53160 (Tests colourful children’s toys for durability against saliva and perspiration), and EN 71-3 (Safety of toys: migration of certain elements), and our varnishes and paints are therefore particularly suitable for children’s play equipment.
Quality
Our multi-functional play equipment and play sculptures are original hand-made products and are manufactured in accordance with the requirements of DIN EN 1176. We have soundly integrated our organisational and production structures into the ISO 9001 quality management system. It forms the foundation for good working conditions for our staff and for compliance with the highest quality requirements for our products. Our playgrounds are products of craftsmanship and always solidly constructed. All wooden parts are chamfered, sharp corners and edges are rounded off. Wood joints are designed to be friction-locked and form-fitted. Nets and ropes consist of 4-strand Hercules material with a steel rope core. All metal fastening elements required for the construction are made from galvanised steel, screw heads are rounded, nuts etc are countersunk and secured with plastic caps. Slides are made entirely from 2.5mm stainless steel. Bars and climbing poles are made from stainless steel tubes.
