Responsibility
Inclusion
At SIK-Holz®, we see inclusion not as an add-on, but as an integral part of our design philosophy. We consider it our responsibility to create play spaces where all children – regardless of physical or cognitive abilities – can play, learn, and laugh together. Our inclusive playground concepts take into account different abilities, needs, and ways of playing. Accessible entrances form the foundation for an inclusive play space. As a playground equipment manufacturer, we then create diverse play opportunities, complemented by tactile and acoustic elements, to offer experiences that are open to everyone. In doing so, we focus on designs that encourage interaction and togetherness without separating groups. We develop each project individually and in close cooperation with our clients. The result is playgrounds that not only inspire physical activity and creativity but also nurture mutual understanding and respect. For us, inclusion is an active contribution to an open, future-ready society.
Sustainability
At SIK-Holz®, we take responsibility for our environment—from material selection to production. The wood we use is not only sustainable but also climate-friendly with a low carbon footprint. We source electricity from our own photovoltaic systems installed on our facility roofs, as well as from eco-friendly providers. Wood residues are efficiently reused to heat our company building or as firewood. Upon request, we offer FSC®– and PEFC™-certified wood and source all other wood exclusively from sustainably managed forests. We always recommend that customers consider renovating and upcycling existing playground equipment before opting for new construction to conserve resources. Additionally, we continuously strive to improve our environmental management and undergo regular audits. By participating in the Handwerkskammer’s 360° Sustainability Check, we actively identify our next steps toward achieving climate neutrality.
Community
Throughout Germany, we support many social and cultural projects through donations of goods and money. We maintain a long-standing and close sponsorship of two classes at the elementary school in our community. We are actively involved in concrete projects supporting refugees. Through our company, we strengthen the development and opportunities in rural areas. We participate in World Play Day and support sports events in the region. We are active members of various organizations, standards committees, and networks dedicated to children’s education and the design of living environments.
