A «playground» for budgerigars

With the construction of the bird aviary in Luckenwalder Tierpark, SIK-Holz® dedicated itself to a smaller project. For five years now, Mr. Herrmann has been steering the direction of the Tierpark as its new director with a clear vision for its modernization and improved quality of life for the animals. One of his main projects has now been realized with the transformation of the old facilities into an aviary for Australian bird species, primarily budgerigars.

SIK-Holz® played a significant role in this endeavor. We consciously chose to implement this project mainly with our carpentry and wood sculptor apprentices and are proud of their achievements. Under the expert guidance of our master carpenter, the individual parts of the aviary were gradually created. Particularly, the passage lock impressively demonstrates the fascinating skills our apprentices have already acquired. After completing all elements in our workshops, we got to work on-site. Together with the city of Luckenwalde’s construction yard and the Tierpark’s craftsmen, the elements were assembled and firmly anchored in the ground.

The hard work paid off. On March 22, the aviary was officially opened. The budgerigars immediately showcased the generous design of the facility with their flock flight and delighted the invited guests. The walk-in enclosure, measuring 20 meters in length and 10 meters in width, provides ample space for the feathered residents to spread their wings.

We are proud to have made a significant contribution to this wonderful project and look forward to future collaborations with Tierpark Luckenwalde. Because there are still plenty of visions ahead.
